Digital signage security: access, roles and your data

A screen network is a publishing system pointed at the public. The security questions that matter are who can publish, what the device on the wall can reach, and where your content lives.

Who can do what

  • Roles of viewer, editor, approver and admin, scoped by location and by group
  • Approval before publish on any group, so a draft cannot become 40 walls by accident
  • SAML single sign-on on the Network plan, so access follows your directory and ends with employment
  • Administrative changes recorded in the audit log with the person, the object and the time
  • Invitations are per person, so nobody shares a login between a shift

How the player connects

The player calls out to the platform over HTTPS. There is no inbound connection to your device, which means no port to open on a store firewall and no VPN to a venue. A screen is paired by a six digit code that expires, and a paired screen holds a credential you can revoke from the panel.

A revoked screen stops receiving content on its next check in and its credential cannot be reused. A lost or stolen device is a revoke, not an incident.

Your content and where it lives

  • Media and play records are stored for your account and are not shared between accounts
  • Data residency on the Network plan: choose the region your media and records sit in
  • Transport is encrypted, and stored media is encrypted at rest
  • Backups are taken on a schedule and restores are tested
  • Export of media and play records is available whenever you ask
  • Deletion removes your content within 30 days of account closure, backups included on their cycle

What we do not do with it

We do not sell your data, we do not share your content with other customers, and we do not use it to train models. The privacy policy states the same thing in the language a legal team wants to read.

How we work

  • Access to production systems is limited to the people who operate them and is logged
  • Changes go through review before they reach production
  • Dependencies are patched on a schedule, and urgent fixes go out when they must
  • Suspected incidents are investigated and account holders are told what happened and when

For your vendor review

Send your questionnaire to [email protected] and we complete it. On the Enterprise plan the review runs with your security team directly, including architecture, residency and the deletion schedule.

Start with a screen you control

Pair one screen, give one colleague an editor role, and watch the audit log fill. Security is easier to judge from inside the product.
