Digital signage software questions, answered
The questions people ask before they put a screen up, answered without sales language. If yours is not here, write to [email protected] and we answer it.
Do I need to buy players
No. A screen pairs by opening one URL in a browser, so a smart TV, a Chromecast, an Android stick, a Windows mini PC or a Chrome device all work. Buy hardware only when a screen has no usable browser, and then buy the cheapest device that runs one.
How long does the first screen take
A few minutes. Open the pairing URL on the screen, type the six digits it shows into the panel, name the screen and give it a location, then drop a playlist on the schedule. The setup guide walks through it step by step.
Does it work on a Samsung or LG TV
Yes, through the built-in browser on most recent models, and through a small Android or Chrome device on older ones. Both routes use the same pairing code and appear in the same panel. See digital signage for smart TV.
Can I use Windows machines we already have
Yes. A Windows mini PC or any spare desktop runs the player in a browser window in kiosk mode. The page on digital signage software for Windows covers the settings that keep it running unattended.
What screen resolution should I use
Whatever the panel is, most often 1920 by 1080 in landscape or 1080 by 1920 in portrait. The player adapts the layout to the resolution it reports. There is a longer answer in digital signage screen resolution.
What happens when the internet drops
The player keeps the current schedule and its downloaded media on the device and carries on playing. When the connection returns it applies any changes and uploads the play records it stored while it was offline, so the gap shows up in the report instead of disappearing.
Can a store manager change content across the whole network
Only if you let them. Roles are viewer, editor, approver and admin, and a group can require approval before published content reaches it. A store manager can be scoped to the screens at their own location.
How do I schedule different content at different times of day
With dayparts. A screen can run a breakfast playlist, a lunch playlist and an evening playlist from one weekly grid, and a dated campaign can sit on top of the grid for the weeks it runs.
Can I group screens by region or brand
Yes. Tag screens by region, brand, venue or anything else you use, then schedule against the tag. One action reaches every screen carrying it, which is what makes 40 locations manageable.
What about vertical screens
Portrait is a setting on the screen, not a separate product. Layouts, templates and the schedule grid all work at 9:16, and the screen builder renders portrait so you can see it before you commit.
How do I know a screen is actually playing
Each player reports the item it rendered and the time it rendered it, and sends a periodic screenshot. The proof of play report shows both, by screen and by day, and exports as CSV for campaign reporting.
What happens when a screen goes offline
An email alert goes out with the location, the screen name and the last frame it reported. Frozen players and screens that wake up at the wrong resolution raise the same alert, because both look fine on a status dot and wrong on the wall.
Who can see my content
The people you invite to your workspace. Media is stored for your account only and access is scoped by role and by location. The security page describes how the platform handles access, storage and deletion.
Do you support single sign-on
Yes, SAML single sign-on is part of the Network plan, together with the audit log and data residency. Enterprise adds dedicated onboarding and a security review with your team. See enterprise digital signage.
Is billing counted per screen or per location
Per active screen. A location with three screens counts as three. Team members are never counted, so you can invite everyone who needs to see the schedule.
Can I cancel
Yes, from the billing page. The account stays open to the end of the period you paid for, and you can export your media and your play records before it closes.
Are there one-off items or credits
No. Every plan is a subscription, monthly or yearly, and nothing on the site is sold by the piece. Higher plans raise limits, they are not packs of anything.
What does the screen builder cost
Nothing, and it needs no account. It is a working demo of the layout and the playlist loop, so you can see a screen render before you decide. It is not a plan and it has no row in the pricing table.
Put your first screen up
Everything above is how the product works day to day. The quickest way to judge it is one screen on a wall and a play record the next morning.
