Build your shop or clinic screen before you compare plans
Type a business name and three notices, and the builder renders a working screen in your browser with the weekly schedule behind it. No account and no player to buy, so you can judge the result before you spend anything.
What a small business needs from signage software
A small business usually has one to ten screens, one or two people who edit them, and no IT department. That shortens the checklist to four things.
- A price per screen you can add up. Some vendors publish a rate, others send a quote. For a handful of screens, a published rate saves a week of emails.
- Screens you already own. A new box costs 70 to 250 USD per screen with some vendors, which can exceed a year of software.
- A schedule. Breakfast menu until 11, lunch after, a promotion that ends on Sunday. If the schedule is clumsy, the screens go stale.
- A month to month exit. A shop that opens a second location, or closes one, should not be locked into a 12 month term.
Best digital signage software for small business compared
Prices are US list prices per screen read from each vendor's pricing page in October 2026, at the yearly rate unless stated. The 5 screen column is software only, per year, on the lowest plan that is not free.
| Platform | Plan | Per screen per month, yearly | 5 screens a year | Player box needed | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kitcast | Starter | 7 USD | 420 USD | Apple TV 4th generation or newer | Shops that already use Apple TVs |
| Yodeck | Basic | 8 USD | 480 USD | Player sold with the plan | Lowest paid price |
| OptiSigns | Standard | 9 USD | 540 USD | Runs on common sticks and mini PCs | Simple loops on cheap hardware |
| Displayer | Essential | 9 USD | 540 USD | Smart TV browser or a 30 to 100 USD device | Existing TVs, unlimited editors |
| NoviSign | Business | 14 USD | 840 USD | Bring your own | Teams that want its design tools |
| XOGO | Pro | About 15 USD paid annually | 900 USD | Mini Max 69.99 USD per screen | A free start with one screen |
| Fugo | Essential | 20 USD | 1,200 USD | Optional, quoted | Dashboards from business tools |
Monthly billing runs higher. Displayer Essential is 19 USD a screen a month, so 5 screens cost 95 USD a month instead of 45. XOGO Pro is 20 USD a month. Essential on Displayer starts at three screens, so the smallest order is 324 USD for a year.
Best for the lowest price
Yodeck Basic at 8 USD and Kitcast Starter at 7 USD are the cheapest paid lines. Kitcast only runs on Apple TV, so if you do not own them, the 199 to 249 USD box per screen cancels the saving. Yodeck sells its own player with the plan. Both are fine for a menu or a notice loop with no reports.
Best if you have a free screen to start
XOGO has a Free plan for one player, with a 15 item library and videos up to 60 seconds. It is a sensible way to learn how signage works, and Fugo lets you run one watermarked screen. Both become paid the moment you add a second screen or need longer video, so price the paid plan before you build around the free one.
Best for screens you already own
If the TVs in your shop are recent smart TVs, a browser based platform needs no box at all. Displayer and OptiSigns both run this way, and older screens work with an inexpensive Android, Chrome or Windows device. Our digital signage player page lists what works, and the Smart TV setup shows the steps.
Best for a clinic, salon or gym
These businesses need a schedule more than reports. A waiting room loop that changes by daypart, a class timetable that updates when the instructor changes, a price list that matches the till. See digital signage for clinics and digital signage for gyms for the setups, and the digital menu board software page if you run a counter service.
Best if you expect to grow
Choose a platform where adding a location does not mean a new contract. Displayer Professional adds groups by location, roles and approvals at 14 USD a screen yearly, so a second store manager edits only their own screens. If you may open several locations, our roundup of the best digital signage software for multiple locations prices the same platforms at 25 screens.
How to choose in four checks
1. Count the screens and who edits. More than five editors on a per user plan gets expensive fast.
2. Check the TVs. Note the brand and year. A smart TV from the last five years usually runs a browser platform.
3. Add up year one. Software, any boxes, and a replacement stick. The table shows software only.
4. Read the exit. Note the term and the notice period before you pay for a year.
Many small businesses launch screens at the same time as a new site or a refreshed menu. If your website needs rebuilding too, an AI website builder can produce the whole site from a description while you set up the screens.
What is the best digital signage software for small business?
For most shops, the best value is a published price under 15 USD a screen that runs on TVs you own. Yodeck Basic is 480 USD a year for 5 screens, Displayer Essential and OptiSigns Standard are 540 USD, and each lets you schedule content without a technician.
How much does digital signage cost for a small business?
Software for 5 screens costs about 420 to 1,200 USD a year at yearly rates. Add 0 to 100 USD per screen for a player if your TVs are not smart, and 19 to 20 USD per screen if you pay monthly on Displayer or XOGO.
Is there free digital signage software?
A few platforms offer one free screen. XOGO's Free plan covers one player and 15 library items, and Fugo allows one watermarked screen. For two or more screens, plan on a paid subscription of 7 to 20 USD per screen a month.
Do I need a media player for each screen?
Not always. A recent smart TV can run Displayer or OptiSigns in its browser, and older screens work with a 30 to 100 USD device. Some vendors require their own box at 70 to 250 USD per screen, which raises year one cost.
Can I try digital signage software before paying?
Yes. Displayer lets you build a working screen in the browser with no account and start with three screens. Kitcast offers a 14 day trial and 30 day money back, and Fugo a 14 day trial of Core.
Can I cancel digital signage software at any time?
It depends on the term. Displayer, Yodeck and Fugo bill monthly or yearly, XOGO's standard license is 12 months, and TelemetryTV is annual only. Read the notice period before you pay, especially if you may close a location.
