BrightSign pricing at a glance
BrightSign does not publish a price list on its own website, and its footer says to contact sales for current pricing. Every hardware figure below is therefore a reseller or third-party number, labelled with where it came from. Read them as a range to budget against, not as a quote.
| What you are buying | Typical price | Billing | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry LS-series player | About 320 to 380 USD | One-time, per screen | Rise Vision guide, August 2026; US reseller listings |
| Mid and high-end HD, XD, XT players | About 495 to 1,100 USD | One-time, per screen | US reseller listings, September 2026 |
| Top XC-series player | Up to about 1,865 USD | One-time, per screen | Rise Vision guide, August 2026 |
| BrightSign Control | Free | Included with every player | brightsign.biz |
| BrightSign Author (desktop authoring) | No additional cost | Included | brightsign.biz |
| BrightSign Author Plus (cloud content, formerly BSN.cloud Content Cloud) | 139 USD per player | Yearly | Rise Vision guide, August 2026; CastHub comparison |
| BrightSign Control Plus | Quoted | Contact sales | brightsign.biz |
The one line most quotes leave out is that the player and the subscription both scale per screen. Forty screens means forty players and forty Author Plus licenses.
What each BrightSign player series is for
BrightSign sells players in series, and the series you need is decided by your content, not by the size of the screen.
The LS series is the entry line, built for single-zone HD and 4K content such as menus, notices and image loops. It is what most small and mid-sized networks need if they buy BrightSign at all. The HD series adds more processing for richer HTML5 and multi-zone layouts. The XD series handles heavier 4K video and more demanding interactive work. The XT and XC series sit at the top, for multiple 4K streams, video walls and 8K output on the latest models.
Every current player from Series 5 on carries a five-year warranty, is fanless and solid state, and is built to run around the clock. That longevity is the real argument for the price: a 360 USD player that runs untouched for seven years costs about 51 USD a year.
What BrightSign costs for 10, 25 and 100 screens
Assume an entry LS player at 360 USD and BrightSign Author Plus at 139 USD per player per year.
| Screens | Players, one-time | Author Plus per year | Year one | 3 year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 3,600 USD | 1,390 USD | 4,990 USD | 7,770 USD |
| 25 | 9,000 USD | 3,475 USD | 12,475 USD | 19,425 USD |
| 100 | 36,000 USD | 13,900 USD | 49,900 USD | 77,700 USD |
Move to an HD or XD player for 4K video or multi-zone layouts and the hardware line roughly doubles, while the software line stays the same. At 25 screens on players around 720 USD, the three-year total rises to about 28,425 USD.
Is BrightSign software free
Partly, and the split matters for your budget. BrightSign Control, the free tier, gives you remote status, device control and health information for every player. The desktop authoring tool, BrightSign Author, costs nothing extra. What is not free is managing and scheduling content from the cloud across many sites, which is BrightSign Author Plus at 139 USD per player per year.
You can skip Author Plus entirely and run a third-party CMS on BrightSign players. More than 100 CMS platforms support BrightSign OS. You then pay that vendor's per-screen rate instead, on top of the player you already bought.
The costs that sit outside the player price
A BrightSign quote usually covers the box. A budget has to cover more.
- Shipping and installation per site, since a player has to be physically mounted behind each display before it plays anything
- Spare players, because a failed unit is replaced from stock or from a reseller, not from a local store
- Staff time on authoring, which reviewers regularly describe as the steeper part of the BrightSign learning curve
- Subscription renewals per player, often on auto-renewal terms bought through a reseller
That last line is where multi-year networks drift. Forty per-player licenses bought in different batches renew on different dates, and a renewal nobody tracked is either a surprise invoice or a screen that quietly stops updating. If your team already runs contract management software for vendor agreements, put the BrightSign reseller terms in it with the renewal dates attached.
BrightSign cost compared with software-only platforms
Software-only platforms do not sell you a player per screen. They run on the smart TV's own browser, an Android stick, a Chrome device or a Windows mini PC. That moves the money from a one-time hardware line to a per-screen subscription. Mvix sits between the two models: it sells its own player at 450 to 750 USD one time with the cloud software included, and charges a one-time license to run that software on BrightSign players. Our Mvix pricing guide runs the three and five year math.
| Platform, 25 screens | Hardware per screen | Software per year | 3 year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| BrightSign LS plus Author Plus | About 360 USD | 3,475 USD | 19,425 USD |
| Yodeck Premium, annual | Player included | 3,600 USD | 10,800 USD |
| OptiSigns Pro, yearly rate | Bring your own | 3,375 USD | 10,125 USD |
| Displayer Essential, yearly rate | Bring your own | 2,700 USD | 8,100 USD |
| Displayer Professional, yearly rate | Bring your own | 4,200 USD | 12,600 USD |
Two honest readings. Yodeck and OptiSigns are the cheapest routes on this table, and our Yodeck pricing and OptiSigns pricing guides break their tiers down. And BrightSign on entry players is not expensive over three years once the hardware is paid for. Where it gets expensive is the day a new site opens and needs a player before it can play anything, or the day a network needs HD or XD players across the board.
When BrightSign is worth the price
Buy BrightSign when the screen is the product: a flagship store window, a museum installation, a synchronized video wall or a 4K video loop that must run for years without anyone touching it. Nothing that runs in a consumer TV browser matches that reliability, and the per-screen player cost is justified by what the screen does.
It is harder to justify when most of your screens show menus, prices, notices, schedules or dashboards. There the content is light, the TV's own browser plays it well, and a player costing as much as the TV is money spent on headroom you never use.
Where Displayer fits
Displayer runs in the browser on screens and devices you already own, pairs each one with a six-digit code, and costs from 9 USD per active screen per month on the yearly rate, with no player to buy and team members free on every plan. Professional, at 14 USD per screen on the yearly rate, adds proof of play with periodic screenshots of the rendered screen, so you can show what was actually on the wall, not only what a player reported.
That puts Displayer Essential, at 108 USD per screen a year, just under BrightSign Author Plus at 139 USD per player, and Professional, at 168 USD, a little above it. Displayer is cheaper to start either way, because there is no hardware line. The full comparison is on our BrightSign alternative page, our Navori pricing guide runs the same player per screen math for Navori's StiX, and every plan is on the pricing page.
How much does BrightSign cost per screen
Plan for a one-time player per screen, about 360 USD for an entry LS model and up to about 1,865 USD for the top XC model, plus 139 USD per player per year for BrightSign Author Plus if you use BrightSign's cloud content tool. Control, the monitoring tier, is free.
How much does a BrightSign player cost
BrightSign does not publish list prices, so the figure depends on the reseller. Rise Vision's August 2026 guide puts players between about 195 and 1,865 USD. US resellers list entry LS players around 320 to 380 USD and HD, XD and XT models from about 495 to 1,100 USD.
How much is BSN.cloud
BSN.cloud's paid content tier is now called BrightSign Author Plus and is reported at 139 USD per player per year. The monitoring tier, formerly Control Cloud and now BrightSign Control, is free with every player. Resellers also sell multi-year Author Plus subscriptions per player.
Is BrightSign software free
BrightSign Control and the desktop BrightSign Author tool are free. Cloud scheduling and content management across sites, BrightSign Author Plus, costs 139 USD per player per year. A premium Control Plus tier is priced by BrightSign sales on request.
Does BrightSign require a subscription
No. A BrightSign player can run content published locally or through the free Control tier without any subscription. You need Author Plus, or a third-party CMS subscription, to manage and schedule content across many players from the cloud.
Is BrightSign cheaper than Yodeck
No, for most networks. Yodeck Premium is 12 USD per screen monthly with a player included on the annual plan, about 3,600 USD a year at 25 screens. BrightSign needs about 9,000 USD of entry players up front plus 3,475 USD a year for Author Plus at the same size.
How long does a BrightSign player last
BrightSign players are fanless and solid state and come with a five-year warranty from Series 5 on. Many run seven years or longer. Spread over that life, an entry player costs roughly 50 to 75 USD a year, which is the strongest argument for the upfront price.
