Kitcast alternative and Kitcast competitors compared for teams without Apple TVs

The usual Kitcast alternative is a platform that plays in the browser of a screen you already own, so you do not buy an Apple TV for every wall. Kitcast's documentation lists Apple TV (4th generation and newer) as its supported player, and its pricing page puts hardware outside every plan. Pro is 10 USD per screen yearly, so 25 screens cost 3,000 USD a year plus 25 Apple TVs at 199 to 249 USD each, a one time 4,975 to 6,225 USD. Displayer Professional at 14 USD yearly costs 4,200 USD for the same 25 screens and runs on the smart TVs, Fire sticks, Android boxes and Windows or Chrome devices already in place.

Build one of your Kitcast screens before you buy a single box

Type your business name and three notices, and the builder renders a working screen in your browser with the weekly schedule behind it. No account and no player to buy, so you see the result on the display you already have before you price the Apple TVs.

  • Venue: restaurant, retail store, clinic, gym, office, school, plant floor, church, senior living or real estate office
  • Orientation: landscape 16:9 or portrait 9:16
  • Layout: full bleed, main plus sidebar, or a menu board in three columns
  • Content: your business name and three short lines, prefilled for the venue you picked

The schedule strip underneath shows the same playlist placed on a weekly grid, which is exactly what the schedule view does inside the product.

Why teams look for a Kitcast alternative

Kitcast is a clean, well priced product, and most people who leave it are not unhappy with the software. They leave because of what it runs on.

The first trigger is hardware. Kitcast's compatibility page names one platform, Apple TV from the 4th generation up, plus any display that takes its HDMI output. Its pricing page lists other players such as Fire TV sticks, Android TV boxes and BrightSign, but the pages we read do not confirm each one on the compatibility list, so check before you order. A site with 40 existing smart TVs or a Windows mini PC behind each screen still has to confirm what actually runs.

The second is proof of play. Kitcast's pricing page does not list a play record or screenshots. A franchisor or a practice owner who has to show the promotion ran in every location needs one, and that is the line where teams start comparing.

The third is the term. Kitcast's headline rates are the yearly prices: Starter 7 USD and Pro 10 USD a screen per month billed yearly, against 9 and 14 USD month to month. Annual plans can be converted to monthly at renewal, which is fair, but the cheapest rate still means committing for twelve months.

Reading that table honestly

Kitcast wins on price per screen. At 10 USD yearly for Pro it is the cheapest platform here with approvals and single sign-on, and the Power BI, Tableau and Microsoft 365 integrations on Pro are deeper than what Displayer offers. If every one of your screens already has an Apple TV behind it, switching saves nothing.

Where it loses is the box. Once you count a 199 to 249 USD Apple TV (Kitcast's own range) for each screen that does not have one, the first year of Kitcast Pro (120 USD plus the box) costs at least 319 USD a screen against 168 USD for Displayer Professional, and there is no screenshot record of what played.

What a Kitcast replacement costs at 25 screens

Software per year at each vendor's yearly rate, with player hardware shown separately.

Kitcast Pro

25 screens at 10 USD is 250 USD a month and 3,000 USD a year with approvals and SSO. Add one Apple TV per screen that lacks one: 4,975 to 6,225 USD at 199 to 249 USD each, or about 975 USD in Fire TV sticks at 39 USD if those are supported for your setup. Details are in the Kitcast pricing guide.

Yodeck Premium

25 screens at 12 USD is 300 USD a month and 3,600 USD a year, with playback reports and the player included on the annual plan. See the Yodeck pricing guide.

OptiSigns Pro

25 screens at 11.25 USD yearly is 3,375 USD a year with approvals and a play log. The OptiSigns pricing guide lists every tier.

Displayer Professional

25 screens at 14 USD yearly is 350 USD a month and 4,200 USD a year, with unlimited team members, roles and approvals, and proof of play with timestamped screenshots. Month to month it is 29 USD a screen. If IT requires SSO and an audit log, Network is 24 USD yearly, 7,200 USD a year for 25 screens. A smart TV with a browser needs no box, and an older display needs a 30 to 100 USD Android, Chrome or Windows device. Every plan is on the pricing page.

How to switch from Kitcast without a dark screen

1. Check the renewal date. Kitcast offers a 30 day money back guarantee and lets annual plans convert to monthly at renewal. Note the date and set a reminder six weeks ahead.

2. List what each screen shows. Sort playlists into images and video, web pages and apps, and dashboards. Images, video and web pages move in an afternoon. Power BI and Tableau dashboards take longest, so decide early whether they move.

3. Export your media. Download the images and videos you uploaded. Layouts built inside the editor are rebuilt from their source files.

4. Reuse your players. Displayer plays in the browser of a recent smart TV or on any Chrome, Android or Windows device. Keep the Apple TVs running Kitcast until the last screen moves. Our digital signage player page lists what works.

5. Move people, not just screens. Invite every location manager as a team member, give each one the screens for their site, and turn on approvals so the marketing lead signs off before anything goes live.

6. Run one location in parallel. Pair one screen a few weeks before the term ends, run the real loop for a week, then move the remaining sites one by one.

What proof of play looks like on Displayer

Kitcast's pricing page does not list a play record. On Professional and above, Displayer keeps the play record for every screen and stores periodic, timestamped screenshots of what the screen actually rendered. A franchisor can see the national promotion on screen in every store, and a clinic owner can see the new patient notice was up all week. The details are on the proof of play page.

Which Kitcast alternative to pick

Choose Yodeck when

You want the lowest price for playback reports and a player shipped to each site with the annual plan.

Choose OptiSigns when

You want approvals and SSO at one low rate and a large app catalog, and a play log without screenshots is enough.

Choose Displayer when

Your screens are a mix of smart TVs, sticks and PCs you already own, many people edit them, and you need proof of what each screen showed. Professional is 14 USD a screen yearly or 29 monthly, with three screens to start.

Stay on Kitcast when

Every screen already has an Apple TV, the team uses the Power BI, Tableau or Microsoft 365 integrations, and you do not need a play record. Then ask Kitcast about volume pricing rather than switching.

What is the best alternative to Kitcast?

For teams whose screens are not all Apple TVs, a platform that plays in the browser of the display you own. Displayer does that at 14 USD a screen yearly with screenshot proof of play. Yodeck Premium is 12 USD with playback reports, and OptiSigns Pro is 11.25 USD yearly with approvals and a play log.

Who are Kitcast's competitors?

The names on most shortlists are Yodeck, OptiSigns, ScreenCloud, NoviSign, Screenly, Xibo, Play Digital Signage, Raydiant and Displayer. Apple TV centric buyers compare Kitcast with Navori and ScreenCloud, while browser based platforms compete for mixed hardware.

How much does Kitcast cost per screen?

On the yearly rate Starter is 7 USD a screen a month and Pro is 10 USD. Month to month they cost 9 and 14 USD. Enterprise is quoted and volume pricing starts at 50 screens. Hardware is bought separately, and there is a 14 day free trial with Pro features.

Does Kitcast work without an Apple TV?

Kitcast's compatibility page lists only Apple TV, 4th generation and newer, as the supported player. Its pricing page also mentions Fire TV sticks, Android TV boxes and BrightSign players as hardware examples. Confirm each device with Kitcast support before ordering.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Kitcast?

Not on software alone. Kitcast Pro at 10 USD yearly undercuts Yodeck, OptiSigns and Displayer. It gets more expensive once you add a 199 to 249 USD Apple TV per screen, at which point a browser based platform on screens you own can cost less in year one.

Can I use my Apple TVs with another platform?

Only if the platform has an Apple TV app. Displayer plays in a browser on smart TVs, Android, Chrome and Windows devices, so Apple TVs are usually redeployed or kept for Kitcast until the last location has moved.

How long does it take to switch from Kitcast?

About a day per location for images, video and simple layouts, longer for dashboards. Pair one screen, run your loop for a week, then move the remaining sites, starting six weeks before the term ends.
