Displayer

Samsung MagicINFO alternative that keeps your Samsung displays and drops the server

A Samsung MagicINFO alternative is worth pricing now because resellers report that MagicINFO on-premises reaches end of sale on December 31, 2026, with support ending in 2029. You have four realistic routes: Samsung VXT, a hosted MagicINFO from a reseller, a cloud platform with a Tizen app such as Xibo or Yodeck, or a browser player such as Displayer that runs on the Samsung panels you already own and on every other brand next to them. Displayer starts at 9 USD per screen a month on the yearly rate, needs no server, and on Professional stores timestamped screenshots of what each screen showed.

Try the player before you plan the migration

The builder below is the same player a paired screen runs. Type a venue name and three messages, pick a layout, and it plays in your browser with a live clock. On a Samsung commercial display the same page opens in the built-in browser or the URL Launcher, so what you see here is what the lobby screen will show.

  • Venue: restaurant, retail store, clinic, gym, office, school, plant floor, church, senior living or real estate office
  • Orientation: landscape 16:9 or portrait 9:16
  • Layout: full bleed, main plus sidebar, or a menu board in three columns
  • Content: your business name and three short lines, prefilled for the venue you picked

The schedule strip underneath shows the same playlist placed on a weekly grid, which is exactly what the schedule view does inside the product.

Why people look for a MagicINFO alternative now

Most MagicINFO estates were not chosen badly. They were bought with Samsung panels, the perpetual license was cheap, and a Windows server in the back office ran them for years. Three things have changed.

The first is the product calendar. Samsung resellers state that MagicINFO on-premises reaches end of sale on December 31, 2026 and end of support at the end of 2029, and Samsung is steering customers to VXT, its cloud platform. Nobody has to move on January 1, but nobody adds screens to a product that stops selling licenses either, so the decision lands on whoever plans next year's rollout.

The second is the server. On-premises MagicINFO is a Windows server application that someone patches, backs up and keeps reachable from every site. In April 2026 the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency added CVE-2024-7399, a MagicINFO 9 Server path traversal flaw that lets an unauthenticated attacker write files, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Samsung fixed it in version 21.1050 in August 2024. A server that missed that update is exactly the kind of box an IT team would rather not own.

The third is hardware lock. MagicINFO is built around Samsung Tizen displays and Samsung players. Many estates now mix Samsung panels with LG screens, consumer TVs in break rooms and a few mini PCs, and those sit outside MagicINFO entirely, so two systems run side by side.

MagicINFO alternatives compared

Reading that table honestly

If every screen you own is a Samsung commercial display and you want power control, input switching and panel diagnostics from the same vendor, VXT is the natural move and the reseller migration tools make it the shortest one. If price per screen decides it, Xibo Cloud at 4.90 USD a month is cheaper than us and includes its Tizen player. The case for Displayer is a mixed estate, no server and no app to keep in step across Tizen versions, and evidence a franchisor, an advertiser or an auditor can look at rather than a log line.

What a MagicINFO alternative costs at 25 screens

Twenty five screens for one year, software only, on each vendor's yearly or published monthly rate. The MagicINFO line is the one-time license only, the way it appears in most quotes, without the server, Windows licensing or the IT time around it.

Route and tier Per screen 25 screens, first year
MagicINFO on-premises license 110 to 135 USD one time 2,750 to 3,375 USD plus the server
Hosted MagicINFO Premium, reseller 20 USD a month 6,000 USD
Samsung VXT CMS S Series 140 EUR a year 3,500 EUR
Samsung VXT CMS P Series, SSO 340 EUR a year 8,500 EUR
Xibo Cloud Professional 4.90 USD a month 1,470 USD
Xibo Cloud Business, SAML 7.70 USD a month 2,310 USD
Yodeck Premium 12 USD a month 3,600 USD
Displayer Essential 9 USD a month 2,700 USD
Displayer Professional 14 USD a month 4,200 USD
Displayer Network, SSO 24 USD a month 7,200 USD

What the numbers say

Xibo Cloud is the cheapest way off the MagicINFO server, and VXT S Series is close behind for an all Samsung estate. Displayer Professional sits at 4,200 USD for 25 screens, which is 1,800 USD a year under reseller hosted MagicINFO Premium and buys a stored screenshot history neither MagicINFO nor VXT keeps. Displayer Network gives SAML SSO and an audit log at 7,200 USD, under VXT P Series at 8,500 EUR. Every Displayer plan and the three screen minimum on Essential are on the pricing page.

Keep your Samsung displays, and the screens that are not Samsung

Displayer's digital signage player is a web page. A Samsung commercial display opens it in the built-in browser or sets it as the address in the URL Launcher, the same feature MagicINFO installers already use for web content. Pair it with a six digit code and it downloads the schedule and keeps playing from local storage if the network drops.

The same player runs on the LG panel in the next room, a consumer smart TV in the break room, an Android stick, a Chrome device in kiosk mode or a Windows mini PC. So the estate that used to need MagicINFO for the Samsung screens and something else for the rest ends up in one panel. If an older Samsung panel's browser struggles with video, a small Android or Chrome device behind it is the fix, and our smart TV signage page covers which TVs handle it well.

No signage server to patch

Moving to any cloud platform removes the Windows server, and with it the patch cycle that CVE-2024-7399 made urgent. With Displayer there is also no inbound connection to a box on your network: screens fetch their schedule over HTTPS, team members sign in to the panel, and on Network that sign-in runs through your identity provider with SAML. Data handling, encryption and access roles are set out on the security page for the IT review that usually comes with a signage change.

A screenshot of what played, not only a device status

MagicINFO and VXT are good at telling you a display is on, which input it is using and that a player reported a file. They do not hand you a picture of what was on the screen at 2 pm last Thursday, and that is what a franchisor, an advertiser or a landlord asks for weeks later.

Displayer's proof of play records what each screen rendered and when, and on Professional stores periodic, timestamped screenshots alongside that record. You can export the record as CSV for a campaign report and attach the pictures. When a screen freezes or goes black, the health check emails the site with the last frame.

How to move off MagicINFO in four steps

  1. 01

Pair one site while MagicINFO keeps running

Pick one location, open the Displayer player on one Samsung display through the browser or URL Launcher, and pair it with the six digit code. The rest of the estate stays on MagicINFO, so nothing goes dark while you test.

  2. 02

Rebuild content against tags, not devices

Re-upload your images and videos, rebuild playlists, and tag screens by region, brand or venue so one schedule reaches every lobby at once. Content does not convert between vendors, so plan about an afternoon per site template.

  3. 03

Run both for a week and compare

Check the play record and the screenshots against what you expected the screen to show, including dayparts and dated campaigns. That week is also when the IT team reviews sign-in and network access.

  4. 04

Move the remaining sites and retire the server

Switch the other sites one at a time, then shut down the MagicINFO server and stop its maintenance. Most teams time the last step before the next license or maintenance renewal.

Which MagicINFO alternative to pick

Choose Samsung VXT when

Every display is Samsung, you want Samsung's remote management of power, input and temperature, and you value a migration tool that carries MagicINFO content across. What each VXT CMS series costs per screen a year is in our Samsung VXT pricing guide.

Choose Xibo when

Price per screen is the deciding line, or you want the option of self-hosting an open source CMS later. The rate card, player licenses and retention limits are in our Xibo pricing guide.

Choose Yodeck when

You want the lowest monthly price with a player shipped in the box, and a playback log is enough evidence. More on our Yodeck alternative page.

Choose Displayer when

Your Samsung screens share the estate with other brands, you never want to run a signage server again, team members should be free on every plan, and somebody outside the business may ask what was on screen. Scheduling across sites by tag is covered on cloud digital signage.

Stay on MagicINFO when

You have perpetual licenses already paid, a server and an IT team that owns it, and screens that will stay on the wall until 2029. Support continues until then, and a well patched server is still the cheapest way to run an all Samsung estate you have already bought.

What is the best alternative to Samsung MagicINFO?

For an all Samsung estate, Samsung VXT is the closest replacement. For mixed hardware, the usual shortlist is Xibo, Yodeck and Displayer. Xibo Cloud is the cheapest at 4.90 USD a screen a month, Yodeck bundles a player, and Displayer runs in the display's browser with stored screenshots on Professional at 14 USD a screen a month yearly.

Is MagicINFO being discontinued?

Samsung resellers report that MagicINFO on-premises reaches end of sale on December 31, 2026 and end of support at the end of 2029. Existing installations keep working, but no new licenses are sold after end of sale, and Samsung is moving customers to its cloud platform, VXT, with migration tools for MagicINFO content.

What is replacing MagicINFO?

Samsung VXT is Samsung's own replacement, a cloud content and remote management platform sold per screen per year. Resellers also offer hosted MagicINFO through 2029. Outside Samsung, any cloud signage platform that runs on Tizen displays, through an app or the built-in browser, can replace it.

Can I use my Samsung displays with other digital signage software?

Yes. Samsung commercial displays run third-party Tizen apps from vendors such as Xibo and Yodeck, and they include a URL Launcher and a browser that can open a web based player such as Displayer's. Check the Tizen version of your panels, because app support differs by version while a browser player does not need an app.

Does MagicINFO need a server?

The on-premises version does: a Windows server that you patch and keep reachable from every site. Samsung VXT, reseller hosted MagicINFO and cloud alternatives remove that requirement. That matters for security, since CISA listed the MagicINFO 9 Server flaw CVE-2024-7399 as actively exploited in April 2026.

How much does Samsung VXT cost per screen?

European resellers list VXT CMS S Series at 140 EUR and P Series at 340 EUR per screen a year, with remote management sold separately at 75 or 140 EUR. US software directories list about 200 USD a year for S and 400 USD for P. Samsung does not publish an open US price list; the Samsung VXT pricing guide has the full breakdown.

Is there a cheaper alternative to MagicINFO?

Yes, on a yearly basis. Xibo Cloud Professional at 4.90 USD, Yodeck Basic at 8 USD and Displayer Essential at 9 USD a screen a month all cost less per year than reseller hosted MagicINFO at 20 USD, and none needs a server. A perpetual license you already own is still cheaper if the server stays.

How do I migrate from MagicINFO to another platform?

Pair one site to the new platform while MagicINFO keeps running, rebuild playlists and schedules against location tags, run both for a week, then move the remaining sites one at a time and shut down the server. Content does not convert automatically between vendors, so allow about an afternoon per site template.

Put three Samsung screens on it before the server renewal

Pair three displays you already own, run your real schedule for a week next to MagicINFO, and look at the screenshot record before you decide.
